Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large Apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 cup Brown sugar
  • 2 cups Breadcrumbs (fresh or store-bought)
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • ½ tsp Nutmeg
  • ½ cup Butter (melted)
  • 2 tbsp Lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin wedges. Place them in a large bowl.
  2. Drizzle the lemon juice over the apples and toss to coat.
  3. In another bowl, combine the brown sugar, breadcrumbs, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix well.
  4. In a greased slow cooker or air fryer basket, layer half of the breadcrumb mixture, then all of the apples, followed by the remaining breadcrumbs on top.
  5. Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the top layer.
  6. Cook: Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours, or high for 2-3 hours until the apples are tender in a slow cooker; or set the air fryer to 320°F (160°C) and cook for 30-35 minutes, checking for doneness.
  7. Let it cool slightly before serving warm, and enjoy!

Notes

Experiment with a mix of apple varieties and adjust spices to preference. Serve warm for best flavor.
