Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • Optional: 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)
  • Optional: ½ cup chopped herbs (parsley or basil)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, salt, and sugar.
  2. Mix in warm water and olive oil until a dough forms.
  3. Flour a clean surface and knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and allow it to rise for 1 hour in a warm place until doubled in size.
  5. Once risen, gently punch down the dough and mix in any optional cheese or herbs.
  6. Grease your slow cooker pot and place the dough in, shaping it to fit the pot.
  7. Cover the slow cooker and let the dough rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Cook on low for 2-3 hours, or until the bread is golden brown and has a nice crust.

Notes
