  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, fully incorporating each before adding the next.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt; gradually add this to the butter mixture mixing on low speed.
  5. In a small bowl, combine the cinnamon and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Roll dough balls in this mixture until coated.
  6. Place rolled cookies on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are golden and centers are soft.
  7. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For best results, use softened butter for better texture and don’t skip the cream of tartar for that signature tang.
