Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices of Italian or French bread
  • 1 lb steak (flank, sirloin, or ribeye)
  • 1 cup provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Slice the steak thinly against the grain and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat, add oil, and sauté steak slices for 3-4 minutes until just browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. In a small bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic, then spread on both sides of the bread.
  4. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and toast the buttered bread on a baking sheet for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Assemble the toast by layering cooked steak on the toasted bread, topped with cheese.
  6. Return to the oven for another 3-5 minutes until cheese is bubbly and browned.
  7. Remove and serve hot, optionally garnished with fresh herbs.

Notes
