Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans (21 ounces each) cherry pie filling
  • 1 box (15.25 ounces) chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup hot fudge sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
  3. Pour the cherry pie filling into the baking pan, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix and melted butter. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. Spoon the chocolate mixture over the cherry pie filling, ensuring it covers the filling as evenly as possible.
  6. In a microwave-safe bowl, warm the hot fudge sauce in intervals, stirring until smooth and pourable.
  7. Pour the warmed hot fudge sauce over the chocolate cake mix layer, spreading it gently if needed.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-50 minutes, or until the top is set and a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean.
  9. Allow the cake to cool slightly before serving to enhance the flavors.

Notes

Ensure that the butter is not too hot when mixing with the cake mix. Cover any leftovers in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Freezing is possible for up to 2 months.
