Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup toasted pecans (chopped)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, approximately 3–5 minutes.
  3. Beat in the eggs individually, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and a pinch of salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk and vanilla extract.
  6. Gently fold in the toasted pecans.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased 9×13 inch cake pan and bake for 30–40 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
