Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually mix this into the butter mixture.
  5. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes.
  6. Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto a lined baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  7. Allow cookies to cool for about 5 minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For a fun twist, add nuts, chocolate chips, or replace cinnamon with cocoa powder for a chocolate variation.
