Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • ½ cup sugar
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, ground cardamom, and sea salt until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, beat the unsalted butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. Stir in the orange zest until well-distributed.
  6. Roll the dough into a log, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  7. After chilling, slice the dough into ¼-inch thick cookies.
  8. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. While the cookies cool, whisk together the powdered sugar and fresh orange juice for the glaze.
  10. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cookies.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, substitute all-purpose flour with gluten-free flour. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature.
