Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups frozen cherries (pitted)
  • 1 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 cup whipped topping (or whipped cream)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the frozen cherries and sugar. Allow them to sit for about 15 minutes to release juices.
  2. In another bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, whipped topping, vanilla extract, and almond extract (if using) until smooth and fluffy.
  3. In your crockpot, layer the cherries at the bottom.
  4. Spoon the cream cheese mixture over the cherries, spreading evenly.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 120-180 minutes, or until the cherries are heated through.
  6. Once done, sprinkle chopped nuts on top for added texture and flavor.
  7. Allow it to cool for a few minutes before serving; enjoy warm or at room temperature!

Notes

You can customize sweetness or add a splash of your favorite liqueur. Consider serving with ice cream or whipped cream.
