Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish and set aside.
  3. Cream together the butter and sugar in a bowl.
  4. Mix in flour, salt, and baking powder until well combined. The mixture should be crumbly.
  5. Press two-thirds of the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish to form the base.
  6. Spread the cherry pie filling evenly over the crust.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining one-third of the crust mixture on top of the cherry filling.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. Allow to cool before slicing.

Notes
