Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs)
  • 1 cup buttermilk (for marinating)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (for waffles)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt (for waffles)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 ¾ cups milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil (for waffles)
  • Maple syrup (for serving)
  • Butter (for serving)
  • Optional toppings: fruit, whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken in buttermilk for at least 1 hour in the fridge.
  2. Combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  3. Remove chicken from buttermilk, coat in flour mixture, and prepare for cooking.
  4. For air frying, preheat air fryer to 360°F (182°C) and cook chicken for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. For slow cooking, cook on high for about 4 hours or low for 6 hours.
  6. For waffles, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in one bowl. In another bowl, combine eggs, milk, and oil, then mix with dry ingredients.
  7. Preheat waffle iron and cook waffles according to instructions, usually about 5 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Serve waffles warm, topped with crispy chicken, maple syrup, and butter.

Notes

Store leftovers separately in airtight containers for up to 3 days. Waffles can be frozen and reheated in the toaster for best results.
