Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and creamy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt, then gradually mix into the butter and sugar mixture until just blended.
  5. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until edges are golden brown and centers are set.
  8. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For a chewier texture, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to one week.
