Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Optional: 1 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix!
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips (and nuts if using) until evenly distributed.
  7. Scoop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden and the centers look slightly underbaked for a chewy texture. Let them cool on the sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Chilling the dough can enhance flavor and texture.
