Ingredients

  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (or walnuts)
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
  • Optional: whipped cream or ice cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease the inside of your slow cooker with cooking spray or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until well combined and smooth.
  3. Fold in the chopped pecans gently.
  4. Pour half of the batter into the slow cooker. Drizzle with half of the caramel sauce and sprinkle half of the chocolate chips. Pour the remaining batter over the top.
  5. Cover and cook on high for about 2 to 2.5 hours or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Once cooked, remove the cake and drizzle the remaining caramel sauce and sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top. Let cool slightly.
  7. Slice and serve warm, with optional whipped cream or ice cream.

Notes

Store any leftovers in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Can also be baked in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 30-35 minutes in a greased 9×13-inch pan.
