Ingredients

  • 2 cups cherries (fresh or frozen; if using frozen, thaw and drain)
  • 1 cup sugar (can adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1 cup cherry juice (or any fruit juice)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • Whipped cream or ice cream (for serving, optional)

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease the interior of your slow cooker to prevent sticking.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the cherries, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, cherry juice, and cornstarch until well combined.
  3. Pour the cherry mixture into the prepared slow cooker.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours, or on high for 2-3 hours, until the cherries are tender and the sauce is bubbly.
  5. Once cooked, stir well and serve warm. Top with whipped cream or ice cream for an extra indulgence.
