Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for the glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and granulated sugar until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, combine the melted butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract. Stir until well combined.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just blended.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon. Pour half of the batter into a baking pan, sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture, and top with remaining batter.
  6. Sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top and swirl gently.
  7. Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. While the cake cools, whisk together the powdered sugar with some milk for the glaze and drizzle over the warm cake.

Notes

For a unique twist, try adding nuts or chocolate chips to the cinnamon mix.
