Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 cups stale bread (French bread or brioche)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk (or almond/oat milk)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 cup raisins or chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut the stale bread into cubes and place them in a large bowl.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together eggs, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the milk and melted butter into the egg mixture, then combine with the bread cubes.
  4. Fold in raisins or chocolate chips if using.
  5. Grease your slow cooker and pour the mixture inside. Spread it evenly.
  6. Cover and cook on low for about 240-360 minutes or on high for 120-180 minutes, until the pudding is set and the top is golden.
  7. Let it cool slightly before serving warm with your favorite sauce or topping.

Notes

Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days; reheat gently. You can freeze the bread pudding for up to 2 months.
