Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, yeast, salt, cinnamon, milk, pumpkin puree, and melted butter. Mix until smooth.
  2. Incorporate the remaining flour gradually until the dough is no longer sticky. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  4. Mix 1/2 cup of chopped pecans and 1/2 cup of brown sugar in a bowl for the topping.
  5. Punch down the dough, transfer to a floured surface, and roll out into a rectangle. Sprinkle with the pecan mixture and roll tightly. Cut into 1–2 inch pieces.
  6. Arrange the buns in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

Serve warm drizzled with caramel sauce and a sprinkle of powdered sugar. Pairs well with coffee or spiced cider.
