Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and place a large oven-safe skillet or baking dish inside to heat.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth, being careful not to overmix.
  3. Once the batter is combined, carefully remove the hot skillet from the oven and add the butter, letting it melt.
  4. Pour the batter immediately into the sizzling butter and quickly return the skillet to the oven.
  5. Bake for about 20-25 minutes until the edges are puffed and golden brown.
  6. Remove from the oven, serve straight away topped with powdered sugar, berries, or syrup, and enjoy!

Notes

For a savory twist, add cheese and herbs to the batter. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days.
