Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 slices of sturdy bread (sourdough or ciabatta)
  • 12 slices of cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a combination)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Dried or fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic and a pinch of salt until well combined.
  2. Spread the garlic butter generously on one side of each slice of bread. On the unbuttered sides, lay down your cheese slices.
  3. Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
  4. Place the sandwich in the skillet, butter side down, and cook for 3-4 minutes until golden and the cheese starts to melt.
  5. Carefully flip the sandwich and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the other side is golden and the cheese is oozy.
  6. Remove from the skillet, let it cool slightly, cut in half, and serve warm, optionally garnished with parsley.

Notes

Serve with tomato soup, salad, or pickles for a perfect pairing. Adjust the garlic and cheese amounts to taste.
