Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz bowtie (farfalle) pasta, dry
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (for topping)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the bowtie pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside. Tip: Reserve a splash of pasta cooking water if needed.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 4 to 5 minutes.
  3. Add garlic and ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking the beef into pieces. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  4. Stir in beef broth and red pepper flakes (if using). Let simmer to meld flavors.
  5. Combine cooked pasta with the beef mixture, mixing well. Adjust consistency with pasta water if needed.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve topped with grated Parmesan cheese and garnish with parsley. Enjoy warm.

Notes

Use medium heat to develop flavors without burning the garlic. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3-4 days. Can be frozen for up to 2 months.
