Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil (melted)
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Mix the dry ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, baking powder, salt, and half of the cinnamon.
  2. Combine wet ingredients: In another bowl, mix melted coconut oil, applesauce, and coconut sugar until combined.
  3. Create the dough: Slowly incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  4. Shape the churro bites: Roll small pieces of dough into bite-sized balls and place them on a plate.
  5. Air fry the churro bites: Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (188°C) and arrange the churro bites in a single layer in the air fryer basket, spritzing with cooking spray if desired.
  6. Cook until golden: Air fry for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Coat with cinnamon sugar: Toss warm churro bites in a mixture of the remaining cinnamon and coconut sugar.

Notes

Store leftover churro bites in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer for a few minutes to regain crispiness.
