Ingredients

Scale
  • 4–6 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work wonderfully)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (adjust based on apple tartness)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup oats (old-fashioned or quick)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup cold butter (cut into small pieces)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin pieces. Place them in a large bowl.
  2. Add granulated sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice to the apples. Toss until coated.
  3. Pour the apple mixture into the slow cooker, spreading it evenly.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt. Add the cold butter pieces.
  5. Use a fork or your fingers to mix until crumbly. Sprinkle the topping over the apples in the slow cooker.
  6. Cover and cook on low for about 4-5 hours or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden.
  7. Let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy it warm, preferably with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Notes

Store any leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or oven at 350°F (175°C) until warm. You can freeze the unbaked crumble for up to 2 months and bake directly from frozen, adding 10-15 minutes to the cook time.
