Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water (110°F / 43°C)
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons instant dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheese (mozzarella or your preference)
  • Optional herbs (like oregano or garlic powder)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and instant yeast. Let it sit for about 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add olive oil, salt, and flour. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Transfer dough onto a floured surface. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let rise for 30–45 minutes.
  5. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  6. Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle (½ inch thick). Cut into strips.
  7. Place strips on a greased baking sheet, sprinkle with cheese and herbs, and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

Serve warm for the best flavor. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days.
