Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water and sugar, stirring until dissolved. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for about 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Knead the dough by hand or in a stand mixer until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes.
  3. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  4. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper. Divide the dough, roll each piece into a long rope, and shape into pretzels.
  5. Boil a large pot of water, adding baking soda. Drop each pretzel into the water for about 30 seconds, then place them on the baking tray.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  7. While the pretzels bake, whisk together the olive oil, vinegar, garlic, and onion powder. Drizzle over the warm pretzels.

Notes
