Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Prepare your slow cooker by lightly greasing the inner pot or using a slow cooker liner.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs, then add oil, vanilla, and buttermilk. Mix well.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 2 to 2.5 hours or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Once done, turn off the slow cooker and let the cake cool for about 30 minutes before serving.
  7. Enjoy warm on its own or topped with whipped cream or a drizzle of chocolate sauce.
