Ingredients

  • 4 Chicken Breasts
  • 4 Large Onions, sliced thinly
  • 1 cup Beef Broth (or Chicken Broth)
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Thyme
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 1 cup Gruyère Cheese (or Swiss cheese)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, melt a tablespoon of butter over medium heat and sauté the sliced onions for 15-20 minutes until golden and caramelized.
  3. Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and garlic powder on both sides.
  4. Arrange the chicken breasts in a baking dish or Dutch oven and top with the caramelized onions. Pour the beef broth over the chicken.
  5. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  6. Remove the foil, sprinkle cheese on top, and return to the oven uncovered for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden brown.
  7. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Experiment with different melting cheeses or herbs for variation. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
