Ingredients

  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup of smooth peanut butter
  • 1 cup of chocolate chips or chopped peanut butter cups
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/4 cups of water
  • 1 egg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry chocolate cake mix and water (add the egg if using) and mix until just combined.
  4. Swirl in the peanut butter, leaving some lumps for pockets of flavor.
  5. Pour half of the batter into the prepared dish, sprinkle with chocolate chips or peanut butter cups, then pour the remaining batter over the top.
  6. Drizzle melted butter over the top layer.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the edges are set and the center is slightly souffled.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes and serve warm.
