Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • ½ cup evaporated milk
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups roughly chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
  2. Combine the granulated sugar, dark brown sugar, evaporated milk, unsalted butter, and salt in a medium saucepan.
  3. Heat the mixture over low heat, stirring continuously until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and chopped pecans.
  5. Return to gentle heat and stir vigorously for 3 to 4 minutes until thickened to the softball stage.
  6. Drop tablespoonfuls of the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about an inch apart.
  7. Allow the candies to set for at least an hour or overnight before serving.

Notes

Store pralines in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 7 days. Can be frozen for up to 3 months.
