Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups apples (peeled, cored, and chopped)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup salted caramel sauce
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apples: Peel, core, and chop the apples into small pieces.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In your slow cooker, add the chopped apples, brown sugar, caramel sauce, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and lemon juice. Stir well to combine.
  3. Cook: Cover and cook on low for 360-480 minutes or on high for 180-240 minutes, until the apples are soft and have broken down.
  4. Blend: Once cooked, use an immersion blender or regular blender to puree the mixture until smooth. Be cautious with hot mixtures!
  5. Final Cooking: If you like thicker apple butter, return to the slow cooker and cook for an additional 60 minutes uncovered, stirring occasionally.
  6. Cool: Let the apple butter cool, then transfer it to jars or airtight containers.
  7. Refrigerate/Store: Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or can for long-term storage.
