Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cream of tartar. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. Gradually add eggs, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Slowly mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together remaining sugar and cinnamon.
  7. Form balls from the dough, then roll in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  8. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set but centers are soft.
  10. Allow to cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For even better flavor, allow cookies to sit overnight before enjoying.
