Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon (for rolling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the butter mixture.
  5. Roll the dough into balls, then roll in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  6. Chill the dough balls for 15 minutes, if desired.
  7. Place on a lined baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider using browned butter or adding chocolate chips.
