Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp black gel food coloring
  • 1 tsp white vinegar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; whisk until well-blended.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, vanilla extract, food coloring, and vinegar until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture, mixing until just combined.
