Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup white chocolate chunks
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts or dried fruits

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Avoid over-mixing!
  6. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and white chocolate chunks. If using nuts or dried fruits, add them here.
  7. Drop tablespoon-sized mounds of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are set. The centers may look slightly underbaked—this is perfect for a chewy texture!

Notes

For thicker cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
