Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup sliced green onions
  • 1/2 cup sliced roasted red peppers

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the ground beef, ground pork, chopped onion, green bell pepper, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl. Mix well.
  3. Press half of the meat mixture into the bottom of a loaf pan to form the first layer.
  4. Layer half of the shredded provolone cheese, sliced mushrooms, green onions, and roasted red peppers over the meat mixture.
  5. Top with the remaining meat mixture, pressing it down to seal the edges.
  6. Bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for 60 minutes, or until cooked through.
  7. Remove the meatloaf from the oven and sprinkle the remaining provolone cheese on top. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Let the meatloaf rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve it warm with a side of vegetables or creamy mashed potatoes.

Notes

Ensure the meat mixture is well combined and use fresh ingredients for best flavor. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
