Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup elbow macaroni
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar works best)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add the elbow macaroni. Cook for 6-8 minutes until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, garlic, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
  4. In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, layer half of the cooked macaroni. Spoon half of the meat mixture on top, followed by half of the shredded cheese. Repeat with another layer of macaroni, meat, and cheese.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and any remaining cheese until smooth. Pour the cheese sauce over the assembled layers in the baking dish.
  6. Place the casserole in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes. The cheese should be bubbly and lightly golden at the edges.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve with a side salad or garlic bread to complement the richness of the casserole.
