Ingredients

  • 2 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cubed and very cold
  • 1 cup + 2 Tablespoons cold buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • Optional Topping: 2 Tablespoons butter, melted
  • Optional Topping: 1 Tablespoon honey

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (218°C).
  2. Combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour in the cold buttermilk and honey, and gently fold until just combined.
  5. Shape the dough on a lightly floured surface and pat it to about 1-inch thickness.
  6. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out circles and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 18–20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Notes

For best results, ensure all ingredients are cold. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
