Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop balls of dough onto prepared baking sheets, ensuring they are spaced about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden. Let them cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For best results, ensure butter is at room temperature and consider chilling the dough if too soft.
