Ingredients

  • 1 lemon (freshly squeezed)
  • 1 inch fresh ginger (sliced or grated)
  • 1 cup water (filtered or spring)

Instructions

  1. Boil 1 cup of water in a kettle or saucepan until hot (around 200°F / 93°C).
  2. While the water is boiling, wash and slice or grate the ginger.
  3. Juice the lemon and add the juice to a mug.
  4. Pour the hot water into the mug over the ginger and lemon juice.
  5. Steep for 5-10 minutes to blend the flavors.
  6. Strain the mixture if desired to remove ginger pieces.
  7. Adjust the flavor with more lemon juice or a drizzle of honey if desired, then enjoy.

Notes

For variety, try adding cayenne pepper, mint leaves, or herbal teas for additional flavor.
